How to Use the Nursery Fees Calculator
1. Enter the Nursery Hourly Fee
Enter the amount charged for one child for one nursery hour. The calculator accepts values from £0.01 to £500.

2. Add the Booked Hours per Week
Enter the total nursery hours booked for one normal week, including funded and paid hours. The calculator accepts up to 168 hours.

3. Enter the Chargeable Weeks
Add the number of weeks for which the nursery charges during the year, from 1 to 52. A year-round placement may have more chargeable weeks than a term-time arrangement.
Check the contract for closures and holidays. Entering 52 weeks when the nursery bills for 48 will overstate the result.
4. Add Confirmed Funded Hours and Weeks
Enter the funded hours available each week and the number of weeks over which the nursery will apply them. Enter zero funded hours if none are confirmed. When funded hours are above zero, funded weeks must also be above zero.

How Are Nursery Fees Calculated?
The calculator first finds annual booked hours:
Annual booked hours = Weekly booked hours × Chargeable weeks
Funded hours used are limited by both the booked schedule and confirmed funding:
Funded hours used = Lower weekly hours × Lower annual weeks
For example, if 40 hours are booked and 30 are funded, only 30 weekly hours enter the reduction. If care is charged for 48 weeks but funding applies for 38 weeks, only 38 weeks are funded.
The remaining formulas are:

Funded-hours reduction = Funded hours used × Hourly fee

Net monthly average = Net annual cost ÷ 12
